I'm going on holiday. Well, I'm not going yet. Infact I'm going in about 4 months. But I thought I'd post about it anyway.

Just finished booking a holiday to first fly to New York for 3 days then spending two weeks in a nice villa in Phoenix, Arizona. Sporto, you're around there right?

Yea, Phoenix is my home. You'll be just in time for our warm weather. Na na!

You might have to look me up if you come here. Wink

Yea. In the winter at night it can get below freezing sometimes. On the other hand, during the summer it usually stays above 90 F (32 C) during the coldest part of the night.

Well since you said exactly, I think it's exactly here, lol. I didn't know how else to describe where it was.

Nice. That's only about 16 miles by road from where I live.

Nice. I'd normally consider 16 miles as a long distance but looking at the maps of the area it seems tiny with how big the place is!

How are you getting this villa? Do you know the person who owns it or are you renting it or what?

lol, I live more than 30 miles away from Dallas, Texas (more like 50 to Forth Worth), but I'm still within the Dallas-Fort Worth contiguous area of development

16 miles is very short distance anywhere in North America I would say. From my house to my office is 10 miles, and it takes about 17 minutes if traffic is good. When I was going to school, it was 24 miles each way and took 30-45 minutes depending on traffic. Out in the prairies, people think nothing of driving 200 miles (3 hours) from Edmonton to Calgary for example. Everything is so far apart that you're usually on the road for at least an hour.

Of course, the reason we have differing views on distance is because both Canada and the USA are big countries and the UK is very small.

Hey Simmo,

When I was landing in Phoenix, I took a picture out the window. Somewhere on the left side of this pic way in the back is where you're staying when you come here. Just thought you'd be interested.

I think the place you're staying is somewhere on the left side of the mountain in the far left rear of the picture. That's the general area anyway.

On a side note, the big mountain on the right side is Camelback Mountain, and its one of the places I climb regularly. In fact, I'm sure you guys have seen many pics and videos of me on it. Na na!

Well, tomorrow (Friday, which now for me is today) I set off down to London to stay overnight and fly over to New York, then onto Phoenix a few days later. So, Sporto, I might see you there, and if I do I'll either go over, say hi, and maybe find it's someone totally different and I'll seem like a prat, see you and think that and not say anything, or just think "hey, that might of been him, cool", or just might not see you, lol.

Have a good time in this rather dead place without me!
