As promised, here is the new map of the USS 10to5 I wanted to make. I tried to keep things as much the same as possible. I had to move the extra crew quarters because they didn't fit nicely where they were. The technobabble stuff in the bottom right corner is filling up empty space that we can use for future expansion.

The two sets of stairs on either side of the warp core go up to the bridge (ie. the bridge is higher up than the rest of the ship). If you think this map is good or bad, say so. If enough people like it, we can use it, otherwise, I had fun making it.

Update: image is now linked to my old server, so it's always up-to-date.

Excellent! It was well worth the wait! But it seems we have more rooms than people on the ship. What is that thing in engineering, at the back, the circle with three dots in it?

If you can make a whole ship in a week or so, why can't Dobberman do a few decks in the same time?

I made the same number of quarters as the previous map. Empty rooms allow more people to join the game.

The circle with three dots is a transporter. I figured a small ship wouldn't
have a transporter pad the size of a galaxy-class one. Besides, if more than three people leave the ship, there wouldn't be enough people to run things. The transporter is activated from the "pool table" in the middle of Engineering.

What's that supposed to mean? Wha?

I think we're on about differant types of map making here Wink

I like the new map, it has a lot of detail in it .
you could use the extra space in the bottom right corner for a holodeck or a science lab or a cargo bay or a brig (I can't think of anything more)
why don't you make this a poll.

Eh? Now it shows my picture and not the link to the picture. Dobberman, this was not the thing I was on about incase you misunderstood. It's the pic in Virtual Game: Announcement: USS 10to5 Ship Status. Everyone, go to http://www.efmods.com/~ksi/viewtopic.php?t=143 . Tell me, can you see the plan?

update: the picture works now, just go to the link I posted in this post then go to the link you posted

and the picture should work, I tried it, thats how I got it to work

Yeah, Brinkster doesn't let you link to your pictures from off-site, so Dobberman uploaded it to efmods.

The box to the right of the bridge is an escape pod. If I make it bigger, it won't be to scale. It only holds 4 people. I suppose if we have a core breach, some people will die with the ship. Let's just hope that doesn't happen! Wink

you could make the bottom right corner of the ship 1 big escape pod,
it would probably fit 10 or more people (everyone on the ship)

Ok, Vanhal updated the ship status page so that the map is loaded from my server off-site (not the Brinskter one). I can update the map as necessary without the need for admin assistance.

Cross fingers and hope my webspace account doesn't get deleted. I've had nothing but bad luck with free webspace.

You could edit the map.... again. Since now, Ensign Dobberman is one of our Engineering crew. And prepare to edit it again when we start mission 3 - Worf55 may join (science?) and Manhunter will be our new security officer!

or you could temporary change the science officers quarters to Dobberman's quarters, and edit the map for mission 3 to add new quarters and a huge escape pod

how about an updated exterior picture of the USS 10to5.

later I will post a big list of updates for the ship, I tried to post it but when I pressed the back button, it backed up the pages, and all writing in the post was lost and I forgot what I wrote.

Simmo666 could add a page on his site for deck plans of the 10to5.

update: I posted this post later because I just thought about it just now, this is a big post and I don't like making long posts except for lists of updates for stuff

I didn't design the ship. When we outgrow it, we'll make sure to ask Starfleet for something a bit more streamlined.

I like the external view

here is my list for if we outgrow the ship

nova class or defiant class setup with some holodecks and bigger crew quarters (eg, for every 2 quarters = 1 quarter or 4 quarters = 1 quarter, lets say there are 40 crew quarters, there would actually be 20 quarters or 10 quarters)

Nova class is pretty big. Oberth class is approx the same size as Defiant class. I think a Nova class ship would be cool, but maybe we should get an Oberth or Defiant class ship first, then trade it in for a Nova class when we need more room. Nova class right away might be too big for our needs. (More stuff that can break.)

I'm going to get some specs on these and post my findings later.

Notes : The Defiant class was initiated in 2365 as a crash programme to develop a starship capable of fighting and defeating the Borg. The design incorporated several new weapons concepts, including the Quantum torpedo and phaser pulse cannon. The design and construction teams were briefed to produce a small, tough, simple to build vessel packing the maximum possible level of firepower. A secondary aim of the project was to develop new technologies for implementation in the Sovereign project and possibly into existing starship designs.

The vessel which emerged from the design office was unlike anything ever contemplated by the Federation before. In place of the usual graceful structures, Defiant was a compact, boxy, almost ugly design. The central body is a three deck block with the a single deck bridge mounted on the top for four decks in all. The upper deck contains the bridge, engineering support spaces and some crew quarters. Deck two features main engineering, a simple medical bay, more crew quarters and the ships communal mess hall. The third deck includes the transporter room and ships storage and cargo bays and the deuterium fuel tanks. Deck four houses the ships replication storage tanks and systems, the antimatter fuel pods and the small shuttle bay. The single computer core is split between decks two and three.

The navigational deflector is located in a prominent housing on the ships bow, which also contains a probe launcher. Flanking the deflector housing are a pair of torpedo tubes capable of firing both Quantum and photon torpedoes. Aft of this the nacelles are fitted directly to the main hull, flanking the bridge. Each nacelle housing includes four warp coils and two of the ships pulse phaser cannon. The nacelles supporting equipment are contained within a fifth deck which hangs below the normal four; this deck is divided into three levels of crawl way spaces. Aft of the nacelles is the aft torpedo tube, and the ships armament is completed by a turret type phaser array aft of the bridge.

In mid 2367 a Borg attack was launched on the Federation. The Defiant was still many months away from completion, but her crew nevertheless prepared to launch the ship in a desperate attempt to inflict some kind of damage on the attacking vessel. In the event the Borg vessel was destroyed in Earth orbit by the USS Enterprise-D shortly after the Defiant left Spacedock to face it.

The Defiant continued to outfit in Spacedock for several months, but serious faults in the design surfaced. Overpowered and over gunned for a ship of its size, Defiant experienced serious problems with her structural integrity during warp flight and weapons operation. With the Borg threat now less urgent, the President ordered the Defiant project shelved in favour of the new Sovereign class which was then under construction.

In 2370 the USS Odyssey was destroyed in a disastrous encounter with the Dominion. The first of the Sovereign class was still months away from completion, so Commander Benjamin Sisko of Deep Space Nine requested that the Defiant be assigned to a mission to contact the Dominion leaders. The ship was equipped with a cloaking device by the Romulans in order to facilitate this mission, in return for Starfleet sharing any intelligence it gained. Despite a disappointing performance on her first mission, when she was quickly overpowered and captured, Defiant proved her worth as a combat vessel over the next few months. The field engineering team under Chief Petty Officer Miles O'Brien have overcome her initial difficulties by re-calibrating and reinforcing the Structural Integrity Field system. Although not an especially fast ship by Starfleet standards, Defiant is far more manoeuvrable than any vessel of comparable size at both Warp and Impulse speeds. This, combined with her inherent toughness and high level of firepower, makes the ship a formidable fighting force. Despite this, Starfleet has had a difficult time getting approval to put the ship into series production, due in part to the designs perception as having failed originally, but also because of political trepidation within the government over fielding a dedicated warship. Fortunately these problems have now been overcome and the Defiant class is finally in full production.

The Defiant herself continued to serve at Deep Space Nine for some time, before being destroyed in late 2375 during the Dominions recapture of the Chin'Toka system. Fortunately most of the crew were able to escape the ship.

Look at this page for a good selection:

http://www.ditl.org/fleets/datfedsizes.htm

So when the USS 10to5 has become to small for our needs, what should we get. Defiant (normal crew 50 but older design than Sabre), Nova (normal crew 80 but mainly science ship - poorly armed), Oberth (normal crew 20-60 but very old design), or something a little newer and more exciting, a Sabre class (normal crew 102 - agile, fast, new)

I found a good Oberth site, and yes, it's too old of a ship. I think we should go with Defiant class. We've already got the deck plans, master systems display, external views, 3D photos, etc.

I still think Nova is cool, but there's next to nothing out there on it.

We may need people to share a room (bunk) like on the defiant. Since we have two people starting training (Starbase 5 and WalkinBomb) and Kamakazie has returned, and Worf55 said he might join, we will want a solution to this on the 10to5 for one mission at least, she hasn't lost her usefulness yet (stick another pod on the end like I did Wink )

You already have two quarters in a way Wink Yours and the ready room.

The quarters are too small for people to share (unless we take turns sleeping or swap out the beds for bunkbeds).

I think we should trade the ship in for a Defiant class. It has quarters for up to 47 people, so it will last us a very long time. We can put the 10to5 in our shuttle bay.

I think we'll need to wait and see. Depending on how many people complete the training mission today and tomorrow, we'll decide then.

And what should we call our new ship? The USS 10to5-A? The USS Virtual? The USS Transform? Any suggestions?

Identity sound good. But no matter how much I'd love a ship called the USS Simmo, I don't think I would be practical.

EDIT: Woohoo!!!! Finally a captain!

I got an awful lot of posts in a few weeks!

I remember sending this email to allendude on the 22nd of May - 11 days ago:

Quote:
Allendude, where are you? The people here at EFMods 'miss' you - in a way. You havent said anything in near a month - since may 9th! And you're way behind me in the post count. You're on 62, I'm on 259. You're only an Ensign (the ranks were restructured), and Im a Lieutenant Commander, and partial moderator .

Mainly, you're missing the virtual game - a virtual game of star trek, moderated by me- we're about to begin mission 2 - you'd better get back by tomorrow (23rd of May) if you want to join in. There are still 2 positions open so hurry!

I got you back last time after telling you about how id been promoted, It should work again, now get back to the forums at www.efmods.com/~ksi/ incase you lost the link.

Lt. Commander Simmo666

It says I had 259 posts, and now 511 or something. Thats 252 more posts! I never realised I did that much. In fact, I dont know how I did it. And you can tell what persuasive stuff I said to get Allendude back.

And Kevin, the USS Blazer, no offense, but I hate it, since we wear blazers at our school - marroon colour - and all the other schools who wear jumpers say "nice blazers mate" and stuff sarcastically. Do you have mandatory uniforms in Canada, the USA and Ireland, or anywhere else?

In Canada some private schools have uniforms. Catholic schools have uniforms, but Protestant schools don't. All the elite schools have uniforms (where all the rich kids go). None of the public schools have uniforms.

It said 4 pages after my post which was on the 3rd page, when I clicked on the 4th page it said that there was no topics in there or something.

We have a big problem. My telephone company discovered I was using my old web space, and cut me off. All 10to5 stuff, as well as my mods, and the updated Assaulted Empire, are no longer available. I'm going to check with my cable company and see what I can do.

I have all the stuff on my hard drive. No worries. I suppose it's fairly obvious that something is up when a dormant account suddenly becomes active again.

I think a registry number should be decided for the USS 10to5, could someone post all the existing registry numbers(if you wait I might post it). I suggest we use a 5 or 6 digit registry number

it should be the same for if we convert the ship into a bigger ship

I can think of existing registry numbers

enterprises
NX 01
NCC 1701
NCC 1701-a
NCC 1701-b
NCC 1701-c
NCC 1701-d
NCC 1701-e

NCC 2000 - excelsior
NCC 1984 - reliant
NCC 74656 - voyager
NCC 74205 - defiant

well, there is one turbolift in a corridor behind the bridge
(eg, Star Trek: Captains chair[a computer game with the starfleet bridges])
Im not sure where the other turbolifts are (if there are any more)
