For my first mod, to keep it simple, I added the other decks to the turbolift menu in Virtual Voyager. I wanted to see if I could do it. I think it turned out pretty good.

How did you manage to add the other buttons to the menu? And do you know how to add the ability for the other buttons to take you to another map, like you could make it so that the deck 15 button actually took you to deck 15. This would be very useful to know for the Virtual Voyager mod, so we could make it take us to the new decks rather that going through every deck. Also, Dobberman or Scooter, how do you make the menu for the deck selection actually come up, is it a command in efradiant or whatever, coz I would take it our mod mapper would love to see this added.

Oh, and you could use textaloud realistic at&t realistic voices to make it say deck 6,7,12,13,14,15

Haven't downloaded this mod yet, what does it add?

Simmo, it's easy to add the turbolift. To put in the options, open you pak0.pk3, go to the ext_data folder and edit the so_turbolift.dat file there. It's pretty straight forward. Then open one of the maps used in Virtual Voyager (the offical one) and have a look at their turbolifts. I will check out one of my maps soon and tell you exactly how to do it as I can't remember right now.
No matter what I choose, no matter how much I buy, the ones I love will always be the ones who pay. Whatever life holds in store for me, I will never forget these words, "with great parents comes great reliability." This is my gift; their purse. Who am I? I'm Dobberman.

Right, I've made all the menu, changed the deck names (what's on them) and made sounds for all the decks in Textaloud MP3 (I had to replace the original ones so it wouldn't sound weird with 2 different voices - voyager computer and textaloud). It's quite good. I'm just waiting for how to say where in the map to go "tour_deck09_turbo" or whatever it is in the file should be, and how to get on the menu in game. Thanks for the help Dobberman, and thanks to Scooter for inspiration. Wink Grin

Oh, and Scooter's mod just adds new buttons to the turbolift menu, decks 6 7 12 13 14 15 that werent in the XP. They dont go anywhere or say anything new but looks better.

It might be possible for someone to edit the deck15 map and connect the turbolift to it. That would be cool, but way over my head.

You know, the mod takes less than a second to download.
You add a new pk3 file to the baseef folder.
You start ef and go into the tour mode.
Go to a turbolift and press the use button.
Look at it.
If you don't like it, delete the new pk3 file.
Simple.

...and you cant go to the added decks, since there arent any maps for them. But just wait for the Virtual Voyager, then you can go to those decks! Look out for a beta test arriving at an effiles or an efmodcentral near you soon!

It looks like this:

You can't actually go the added decks. If you click Engage, the turbolift doesn't move.

Uh oh! I sense confusion.

I am not involved with the Virtual Voyager mod. I have no idea when they will be beta testing. This is just something to keep me out of trouble.

The Virtual Voyager mod should be out on July 4th. The beta test should be in a week or two - I already have the first Na na! (but I'm part of the team).

Oh dear. I hope the site isn't lost. I'll contact the webmaster (lead mapper too) and tell him this. Anyway, there is never any updates on that site. Check up on www.efmodcentral.com from time to time to see if there's any info, there's just been an update today so......

ManHunter, I suggest that you go to your account options and change it so that you get automatically logged in when you come here.
