I've played the demo to Bridge commander and I think it's really cool but I'm not sure if I want to drop 40 - 50 bucks to buy it. Any thoughts?

BC is really good. Although, problems with modding annoys me and I stopped playing for a while. I download the ships, install them, and then, play elite force Wha? why, I dont know, I'm confused. I seem to have downloaded so many ships, and... never played them.

Yeah, I haven't played BC in a while, even though it's a great game. The multiplayer ROCKS! (Even on a 56k)

Once, online, I wondered where someone warped off to, I went looking for him, found him in another system, so attacked him, then, I got the message from him late saying "Im going for a sec. I need to do something. If anyone attacks me, they're booted" And so straight away, without my knowledge it was "like simmo is about to be" and I was booted.

Sad it was such a great game too.

It's sad there was no "computer" in the game but its also a shame they never used half of them extra voices, like those in mission 1 someone used in a wav file or whatever, and those you find never used after the quick battle. They would have made the game so much better. Like the computer just saying: "Hull breach on deck 5, emergency forcefields in place" would have been so good. And why doesn't saffi count down to the self destruct like some sound files are meant for. Try this: Killing the last enemy in quick battle, and before savali says "thats it we got em" use self destruct, and then you can pan around after the enemy ship is destroyed and you are in the middle of blowing up - IT WORKS! Wink
And you could warp to different planets in system in some maps (like ascella 1, 2 or 3 - not other systems but thats it - its incase you want to go to the toilet or something while playing)

well the reason i think the computer voice wasnt in because poeple would wont to interact with it like with the game voice which would of made alot longer to come out

I think i saw that on an interview at bridgecommander main site

I think BC is a good game (until you get the sovereign class ship).
There is a mod available to fix the bridge positions on the galaxy-class ship. I don't play it because it spontaneously reboots my computer. My brother played it until I started installing tons of extra stuff and corrupted the game.

Hey, I sure missed a lot tonight! Why hasn't Rick Knox made any new ships in ages. It's been ages since he did anything new (the last was the new orleans I think)

No, it's not morning or anything. It's only 11 o'clock at night in the UK, 10 o'clock in Ireland I think. I should have said "I sure missed a lot this evening".

What, more promotions? Right, so sporto yesterday, and scooter and carlos today. And none for me for ages! I would have though Captain would have been at 400. I've been at Commander since 300, and carlos is catching up. He's 1 rank behind.

I don't think anyone here is captain currently

7 doesn't split into 100 evenly Wink

And Vanhal is right, it's the same time in England than it is in Ireland. And as far as I know the board time is right (GMT), how could you be an hour ahead?

EDIT - No, the board time is wrong, it's an hour slow.

The board doesn't account for daylight savings time. I had to change my time zone so that the time would be right.

I don't know.

But do not download the file that makes everybody sit where they are supposed too. Like on the Galaxy Class starship, tactical is in the front right... But it's supposed to be right behind you. Then when guests come aboard they sit up front if they take tactical making 2 people at the front and you can't get to one guy but get to the other. It's really confusing and annoying.

What's really annoying id trying to figure out where all of the files go. The readme that comes with it (the general mod installer) is old and VERY vague. So does anyone have experience installing mods correctly?

It's been a while, but as I recall, the files get extracted to a few different places. I can't remember the exact details though.

I like the canon bridge positions mod. It works fine on the galaxy class ship, so Starbase 5 must be talking about the sovereign class ship. He's farther in the game than I ever got, so maybe it is a problem later on.
