I've locked the comments and debriefing for mission 5, as per usual. You can discuss Serenity Mission 6 here. Carlos will be making a separate comments thread for the Columbia when he starts his mission 6.

Columbia crew can post here, but no nonsense (that means you Skywalker) because I don't want more work than I already have.

I think as a pretext everyone should state the day of the mission and the time it happens, that way someone could look at the post before his/hers and see how long it was between the posts.

Like:

U.S.S. Serenity, day 1, 800 hours.

On:

Type whatever

Off:

what'cha think?

oh and would somebody give me something to do, check the weapons or something? i dunno

It's a nice idea, but I don't know how well it would work, and Simmo said we have to stick to the rules we've been using the past two missions.

Security people on the Serenity need not worry, there will be something to do soon. I've got the main plot planned out, but not the nitty-gritty details as of yet. No worries though. I will have it all planned out before I give the order to leave spacedock.

and, regarding skywalkers last post (and yes i know not to take him seriously) he said security will not have that much fun, but there will be some fighting missions right? otherwise i picked the wrong ship, i just didn't want ALL the missions to be fighting.

Actually you can do that if you want. Put the time and location beforehand. I originally started by saying this, but then nobody did it so I guess I forgot.

Thanks for following the rules though Scooter Wink

EDIT: And yes, Commander Luke, some missions will be fighting.

It'll be something like every fifth mission is a fighting mission, and then not senseless fighting. We won't be picking the fight.

this is kinda a stupid question, but i'll ask anyway. Am i considered a department head?, cause on the columbia the top security guy is called security deputy, and this is in regards to simmos first post, to not post until we are out of spacedock except for department heads.

so, can i post?

The top security guy is the Chief of Security, and that is Manhunter on the Serenity. I told him to post, and he read what was here yesterday, but says he'll post later. Since he hasn't assigned anyone to work on the weapons systems yet, I'll have a talk with him.

If you look more closely at the Columbia crew list, you'll see that Kamakazie is Chief of Security, as well as First Officer, so he's listed in the Command section instead of the Security section.

Kim, I have 2 things to point out about your deck plans.

1) Both cargo bays are labeled as Cargo Bay 2
2) You neglected to include engineering in the plans (I assume it's on deck 4)

(Hehe, be proud of me, doing my homework before posting by using your plans )

Be careful. Those deck plans aren't 100% accurate. There is a listing of which deck everything is on in the ship status. Engineering is on deck 7.

Can i remind you that the maximum warp of the Serenity is:

WARP 9!!!!!!

Starbase 5 (or someone) said it went to warp 9.975 or something. That is too fast for the ship to handle.

Ensign_Kim, your little romance is great. A little heart in the game is what we need. So its not just mission, mission, mission. Add some off mission stuff too everyone, like he did.

Lol, it's great!

Remember, I want 10 pages, you're on 2. Keep it up.

(Also, for when I get back, could you say what you do and dont like about Scooter's new methods of doing stuff - what i should keep, Scooter, I need a list of ideas please.)

Thanks all, From Simmo

BTW, Im off to the swimming pool now, bye.

Taking spaces out of Sporto's post was a bit excessive, and Simmo told me not to do it again, so I went and put them back in. I won't do that again.

As for the changes I've made, they haven't really come into effect yet. Right now I'm giving out orders myself because I don't want things to happen too fast. After the shakedown cruise, I'm going to let everyone decide the course of the story. The change will be that I will give out tasks to the department heads, and they will use the people in their department to complete those tasks, rather than having everyone sitting here going, "What am I supposed to do?"

If anyone else has noticed a difference between the way I do things and the way Simmo does things, please post it here. When the mission is over, Simmo can decide how to proceed.

Actually, Scooter ordered me too. So i'm in the clear.

Scooter said:
Scooter: "Ok, we'll test warp drive next. Lieutenant Daniels, engage the warp drive and bring us up slowly to maximum warp."

OFF:

Ok Starbase 5, start us off at warp 1 and increment by 1 until we reach warp 9, and then take us up slowly to 9.975 at whatever increments you want.

How you go about mining is up to you. You can go down there with EVA suits and extract it by hand, or you can use the ship's phasers and tractor beam to cut the outer layer off, or you can use the two workbees in our cargo bay. (or a combination of those)

I would not recommend phasers because they haven't been tested yet and if they are overpowered by malfunction then dilithium might blow up or however it reacts.

I recommend the workbees. They are probably faster than doing it by hand.

This could be a good way to test the phasers. I don't think you'd have to worry about overpowering because they would be on low intensity for mining.

I am staying with the sernity but it adds something to the story line... doesn't it! Any way the shuttle craft I crashed will come back cause I found one on the palnet that the columbia is at.... Also if columbia ever has only 2 people again I will get transfered again cause it is very slow.
