A while ago on the IRC Channel, we were talking about the asteroid that was on a collision course with earth and due to hit in febuary 2019, but some of you never heard of it. Well here is the news report:

http://www.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,15410-12050733,00.html

Watch the video on that page too, scary stuff. But it could mark the first occasion where nuclear weapons were used to save lives.

The closer we get to the time when it is supposed to hit, the less likely it is that the asteroid will actually hit. This happens quite often, we just don't get to hear about all of them.

Even if it does hit earth. it won't kill everything. Well at least not righ away. Now would be one of those times to start saving up for a long-term nuke shelter. Grin

I it does hit the earth its not that big to begin with 2 kilometers is not TOO big. It would probably destroy everything within 300 miles if it hits on land, what would probably kill the rest of the planet would be the extreme cold after all the dust blocks out the sunlight. If it hits in water it would cause a huge tidal wave which would destroy all seafront cities and it would probably have some extreme weather changes. The inland cities would probably be safe though.

it probably won't even hit us to begin with though.
Damn, lost 400 posts...
