Well that's strange.

As most of you know, I live in Pheonix, Arizona. Most of you also know about the dust storms that I've described before. Well, I've seen it from a new and very interesting angle. Now that I moved to an apartment at Arizona State University, I have an ariel view from the 8th floor of the entire portion of the city south of us.

Now that I got that background info out of the way, I'll explain what I've just seen. I was washing dishes in the kitchen (we have no dishwasher so we do them by hand). I started to hear this rumbling sound coming from the window. I walk over and look outside just in time to see a HUGE wall of dust slam into the building. Instantly, I couldn't see anything outside that wasn't attached to the building. Once the initial front passed, the dust cleared a little. The city outside (dark now that it's 7:30) looked almost like the badlands from the first episode of Voyager, with plumes of dust going up into the sky while smaller clouds of dust continue to race around now.

Right after I saw that, I ran to the other side of the building so I could look north. I saw the wall that just hit my building still blowing to the north. I had never seen one of those from behind. It was really wierd. Now I can only see about half a mile, where the lights of the city just dissapear as if the world just ends there.

Just thought I'd share my interesting experience with you. Grin

Sounds cool looking. What do you do if you were driving your car and one of these hit?

It depends on how bad it is. If I were driving when the one today hit, I would have immediately pulled WAY off the road cause this one was thick. You couldn't see 10 feet away when it first hit.

Well, I don't know about blinded, but I've gotten dust in my eyes before.

Actually, check out this pic of a dust wall that I scanned from a newspaper a long time ago:

Eek! OMG! It looks like some hills. I'd be scared to death if I saw one of those. But of course, you're used to them over there, so I guess you're used to them.

Too bad you didn't grab the video camera. I would like to see that in action.
