Well, as I said somewhere else earlier, my version of Textaloud MP3 is broken, and have no way to get voices any more.

However, I was wondering if any of you would want to do voices for the mod, or help out in any other ways. Like always, you'd get credit for it, and stuff like that. You'd get the character in the game modified to your voices. This would be better, as Textaloud doesn't give the most realistic voices, as we've found out before.

Do you think this is a good idea?

I dont like that really. They sound worse, yes, worse than Textaloud MP3's voices. Probably they try to get it sounding nicer, that when it gets higher pitched and lower pitched right in the middle of a word, its awful.

Plus, the files I originally made in Textaloud MP3 (that was only some of the voices I needed) were in about 9-10 different voices. I dont think I would need that many voice actors here but the more the merrier, and it really would just be better overall with the real voices now wouldnt it.

I dont need voices super-urgently, but also, I dont want to be waiting many months (or years) on end for them.

I would appreciate any work that you can get done for whatever time. I'm not in a rush, so take as much time as you want.

On another note, I've been working to try and adjust the entire story of the game, just through modifying voices and textures to make the storyline different, rather than just an adjustment of the way it looks.

AT&T Natural Voices are NOT worse than TextAloudMP3! AT&T has the best Text-to-speech engine EVER! They are the most realistic computer-generated voices available. Muhahaha

You sound like the advert for it What ever!

Anyway, Textaloud MP3's voices dont go high to low in the middle of a word, which makes most of my sentences sound completely messed up.

I'm working on a script for the first voices I'd need. I have to make it so that the talking fits in the ways that they did in the original EF levels. So far it's going well.

I have to manage to get the Etherian levels to fit into the storyline too, which is quite complex, but I think it seems alright at the moment.

Positions I'd need filling (I think I can get some places filled, but not all since there are quite a few).

Captain - Simmo666

First Officer - Name Unavailable

Tactical - Sporto?

Ops - ???

Science - ???

Medical - Scooter

Helm - ???

Chief Engineer - ???

You know how many lines there are for each character in the normal EF.

NOTE: I dont think anyone would want to do the voices for the whole game really, but whatever we did would be great I think.

I'll post the script I wrote here when I finish it and type it up to see what you think.

Anyone else want to volunteer by the way?

You might want to indicate the gender of each character...

Well, originally I'd planned for the Chief Engineer (which I just realised is missing from the list) and Helmsman to be female, and others male but since there is never any female voice acresses to be found anywhere, although it would look odd, I might have to settle with an all male senior staff. Strange.

Amyway, whatever gender was used for the voices I'd think would be okay, as long as the character doesnt change gender half way through the plot...

Dont worry, not ALL of the EF lines, since that would need soooooo many people to redo Munro's, Telsia's, Biessman's etc. voices.

Redoing ALL the EF lines would take us about a year or so lol.

At the moment, all I planned was voy1-voy5 (the first 5 voyager maps). From what I've counted, there arent that many lines for some characters.

EDIT:

Here is the link to where you can find the script.

http://www.geocities.com/simpsont98/script.html

Its for VOY1 - VOY4.

I'll play the doctor if he's still available. I might be able to do that change to the computer voice as well, depending on whether my sound editor chops off the last bits or not.

(No i'm not doing any parts)

But, I remember the days when i didn't have a mic and then my friend at school asked me if i wanted a mic and i said sure. So he went and got one out of school storage and gave it to me for free. I've got a shitty mic but it works its like a circle on a string! LOL! And this friend of mine has lots of access to school stuff because he fixes computers at our school for fun!

Interesting. Simmo, I can edit Foster's line if you want, It'll take me like 10 min. I'll be tactical if you want, though I'm not the best actor.

BTW, for those of you with the simple recording stuff, you can send me your lines and I can edit them (i.e. trim the ends so there is no pause, add filters to make it sound more like a computer (if that needs to be done), change the pitch, etc.)

I might be able to get my roomate to play a character as well.

If you could edit the line that would be great.

It's very smart the way you're doing this, editing the game slightly to fit your own story, rather than making all of your own levels and such.

Don't go anywhere for about 15 min, I'm going to edit it now. Wink

There's actually three sound files from VOY2 that need to be modified to say deck 8 instead of deck 9. Unfortunately, Cool Edit 2000 cuts off the last part of each clip. Sporto, could you try? The best "eight" I've found so far is 8472.mp3 or 8472_wins.mp3 in pak0.pk3 under sound/voice/computer/misc

I had that problem too. To fix it, you have to convert it to a .wav file.

I'll see what I can do with the lines but I'm not sure that I know how to make it sound like the female computer voice.

What I do is find a clip with the computer voice saying what I need, and copy-paste it from one file to another. I'll try converting it to a WAV and see what I can do.

We should probably do the default lines as well, like if you press spacebar and Janeway says "Not right now Ensign." That sort of thing.

Good point. I dont think it would be a good idea if I talked in janeways voice Wha?

I dont think we need to do the pain or jump voices though, we can copy those from other characters. I dont want to think what anyone would think if they heard you making the noises for them lol

HAHAHA Grin I already did that for the VE characters. People in the hall thought is was really strange to hear me grunt, cry, and scream at the top of my lungs like I was being stabbed.

BTW, I guess I'll do the Tactical position. For that, am I a vulcan, or just a human? Also, I might be able to convince my friend to do the smallest part still available. We'll see. Whic part is the smallest?
